John Carter Hensley 29 Ağustos 1977 Louisville, Kentucky doğumludur. Ailesi o henüz 3 yaşındayken boşanmıştır. Bir okul piyesinde oynayana kadar oyunculuk yapmayı düşünmemiştir. Daha çok Nip/Tuck'daki sorunlu ergen Matt McNamara rolü ile tanınmaktadır.
