Megalopol

Megalopol veya megalopolis, genel olarak büyük metropolitan alanların birleşimidir.

Bu terim coğrafi anlamda ilk kez 1961 yılında Jean Gottmann tarafından Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore ve Washington, D.C.'te uzanan ABD'nin kuzeydoğu sahillerindeki metropol alanlarının zincirini tanımlamak için kullanılmıştır.[1][2][3] Bu alan günümüzde BosWash olarak bilinmektedir.
