Pelecanus odessanus, Miyosen'in son dönemine ait fosillerden 1886 yılında tanımlanmış büyük bir pelikan türüdür. Ukrayna'da Odessa yakınlarında Novaja Slobdka bölgesinde bulunan fosil kayıtları günümüzde kaybolmuştur.[2]
