Gerardus Mercator (asıl adı: Gerard De Kremer) Matematikçi ve kartograf. 5 Mart 1512 Rupelmonde, Flandre'de doğdu, 2 Aralık 1594 Duisburg'da öldü.

Mercator harita projeksiyonunu geliştirdi ve bir dünya haritası yayınladı.
