Theotokos

Theotokos (Yunanca: Θεοτόκος, transliterasyonu Theotókos; Latince: Deipara, Dei genetrix; Gürcüce: ღვთისმშობელი transliterasyonu: ghvtismshobeli, Rumence: Născătoare de Dumnezeu), İsa'nın annesi Meryem için kullanılan bir unvandır. Terim Ortodoks Kilisesi ve Katolik Kilisesi'nin Doğu gelenekleri arasında kullanılmaktadır.
Sözcük Yunanca theo- (theos=tanrı) ve tokostan (tikto=doğurmak) türemiş olup doğrudan çevrilirse “Tanrı’yı doğuran” gibi bir anlama sahiptir. Daha serbest bir çevirisi “Tanrı’nın annesi” şeklinde olabilir.
